Big Story of Today
There isn't a Biggest Story for Today, yet.
DKP System

This represents the most current version of the Deadmoon Raid Group DKP System. While the following is an accurate representation of the system we currently use, it is subject to change; keep checking the news section of the Deadmoon site for any updates.

[9.9.06 - Updated for MC, BWL, AQ-40 DKP Collection + Ontime Clarification]
[10.14.07 - Updated for TBC Raiding]
[1.15.08 - Values Updated]
[3.23.08 - System Overhaul Posted]

The Basic Idea

"DKP" stands for Dragon Kill Points, a term coined in Everquest. In a nutshell, you receive points for going on raid runs with the DMT Raid Group (eg. in Molten Core), and you cash those points in for items down the road. The basic argument for using this form of system is that it rewards those players who contribute to a raid's success regularly, rather than those who are lucky on one or two runs. In the end, everyone will have a chance at loot: a DKP system simply ensures that we take some of the luck out of it.

As far as our design goals go, we want the system to be simple and fair. Keeping that in mind, please realize that there are many issues at work behind coming up with any DKP implementation: we'll do our best to find the one that suits our needs, accordingly.

Getting DKP

DKP are awarded for participation in raid groups. For members who are able to sign up in advance and complete the run, the full breakdown of points for a run is as follows:

Ontime Bonus:

Ontime DKP is not automatically given. Members may receive "Ontime Penalties" in the following situations:

- "Raid #X Durability" - Have < 90% Durability at the ontime cutoff
- "Raid #X Reagents" - Don't have at least one full stack of necessary reagents (recommended: carry two stacks at all times)
- "Raid #X Signup" - Have signed up according to our stated signup protocol (you can lose part of your Ontime for not listing Spec / CTRA, or for listing incorrect CTRA version!)

While in the past we've posted specific values for each boss kill, the rapid cylcing-through of content in TBC has made this a less efficient system to maintain. There are a few primary factors that go into a raid leader's determination of the value of the run:

- Bosses killed
- Performance of the raid
- Difficulty of content
- First-kill bonuses

Roughly speaking, the most valuable raids will be those with the least tangible reward: nights where new fights are being learned are second only to those where a (hard) boss is brought down for the first time.

Alternates

Please read our policy on Alternates here.

Spending DKP

Important Update: we formerly used a split-system where set and non-set items were treated differently. This is no longer the case. Please read below for details.

As of 3.20.08, effective immediately, all items are placed for open bids. In addition, the minimum amount for items has been made universal (100 DKP). When any item - whether quest, tiered, or non-set - drops, we'll conduct a silent auction for it.

The silent auction will function as follows:

  • The auctioneer will be designated by the raid leaders.
  • The auctioneer will announce the item being bid for, and allow 10 seconds for members of the given class(es) to inquire about their current DKP value (please be prepared and know your DKP before starting the raid).
  • The auctioneer will then allow 30 seconds for the interested members to bid on the item. To bid, each participating member will send a single tell to the auctioneer stating the maximum DKP they wish to spend on the item.
  • Once the auction window is closed, the auctioneer will announce the top bid only (we'll prohibit announcing the second-highest value). That raider will then win the item for the exact amount they bid.
  • In the case of a tie, the top bidders will roll to determine the winner.
Once the auction is complete, the winner will receive the item, and the proper DKP price is immediately deducted from their account.

Miscellaneous
  • DKP are associated with a single main character. DKP may never be traded between characters.
  • DKP may never be traded or loaned between players.
  • With respect to BoE items, classes that can use the item (and are present in the raid) will be given priority. If none want to spend the minimum on the item, anyone in the raid may bid.
  • BoE items may NOT be sold (DKP is not meant as a source of income in-game, since these items are the sole source of income for the guild). For example, if a BoE recipe is won by a player and then is sold on the AH, that raider may face heavy DKP fines or raid exclusion.
  • Insufficient DKP: if no one can afford the minimum DKP price for an item, then those who can use it and are willing to pay the minimum will roll and deduct 100 from their total DKP. If a raider has a positive DKP balance and others have negative, that with a positive balance will have priority.
  • For Alternate Characters: if, for whatever reason, the raid coordinators have deemed it necessary to bring in a non-main character, a player can earn gear for free if it will otherwise be destroyed. This gear costs nothing to the player and isn't recorded as part of their DKP out-flow. Note that alternate characters will always earn DKP for the main of that account.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns about the above, please don't hesitate to contact us via PM or in-game.
