New Officer Selections
Posted by Tazzomax on Monday, May 04 @ 07:00:00 EDT (64 reads) |

With a significant gap in time since our last round of officer selections, we've finally managed to settle on our next picks. For Cycle IV, we'll have the following as officers, both returning and new: Colphaer, Longthorn, Lorrec, Merliin, Muggus, Quenlill, and Reinbach.
To the folks from our last round, thank you for your help in keeping Deadmoon steady. We faced a significant set of challenges in moving up and through Black Temple, and our finish was by no means guaranteed. For our new selections, thank you for stepping in. With the summer months approaching fast - and a good selection of difficult new content - we'll need your help to keep pushing forward.
Good hunting - and thank you,
- Tazz

Ulduar & Changes

While we haven't been posting the kills individually, we've been working away at the new content provided by the 3.1 patch in the form of Ulduar. We've managed to work through each of the fights up through Auriaya; while some of these have been short enough encounters, it's still worth posting most of the shots for a look back in the future. One interesting - and refreshing - aspect to the new material is that the difficulty level is definitely a step above what was released with 3.0. This content is less PUG'able, and has provided us with some great last-second first kills. While it remains to be seen how it will scale over time, there's a good chance that this content will help mitigate some of the scattering effect we've seen from the easier style of instance previously worked on.

Malygos

After a couple nights of work, we've managed to bring down Malygos, meaning we've finished out the currently available raid instances. While by our previous standards this is a quick achievement, our folks did a great job working through an enounter not immediately accessible to many of the raiding groups out here.
This latest iteration of available raid content has certainly presented an interesting new approach of Blizzard's: specifically, we're all in agreement that what's been staged so far is significantly easier in terms of difficulty curve as compared to the TBC content we worked through starting with SSC. We'll likely have some time before new any new 25's material is released, so in the meantime we'll be looking to refine and prepare for what Blizzard has mentioned is likely to be significantly tougher than what we've seen so far.
Good hunting,

DMT: 4 Years On
Posted by Tazzomax on Thursday, December 25 @ 22:52:04 EST (105 reads) |

As of today, Deadmoon is officially four years old.
Every year around this time I end up reflecting on exactly what it is we've witnessed as a guild. We're now in WoW's second expansion, having formed just one month after the original release of the game; we've survived the rocky transitions between different raiding environments; we've had friends come and go, and have run three fantastic out of game DMT-Fest events. Were it not for the excellent people we've met and recruited along the way, none of this would have been possible.
While most of you don't remember the earliest days of DMT, all of you have inherited what truly is years of effort, our unique position on our server, and most importantly - our name. To all of you who have helped to make that happen, thank you.
Wishing all of you well through the holidays and the new year,
My best,
- Tazz

WLK Raid Beginnings

Over two weeks, we've managed to clear out our first full-25 instance with Kel'Thuzad down, along with some of the prior minor-25's.
Coming out of the relatively demanding environment that TBC presented for us raid-wise, the pacing has been an interesting change of pace. While we can expect the complexity of raid-level encounters to be higher down the road, Blizzard has once again thrown up a new approach with this expansion.
We'll continue to shore up our Naxx performance as we push ahead over the coming weeks - be sure to check the signups for any updates.
Good hunting,

Wrath of the Lich King

After months of lead-up, the inevitable is finally here: Wrath of the Lich King has been released, and with that Deadmoon enters its second full expansion.
While the next couple weeks will mainly consist of folks leveling at varying paces towards 80, we do have important organizational elements coming up: we'll be preparing for multiple Naxx groups, registering main swaps, tweaking our DKP system, and looking out for new blood well suited to DMT's style. While we won't be changing anything overnight, every expansion presents a new set of challenges that we'll aim to meet head-on.
Covering those and other issues, we'll have more later. In the meantime, enjoy the content.
See you in-game,

Illidan Down; Done Before 3.0
Posted by Tazzomax on Tuesday, October 07 @ 00:16:13 EDT (221 reads) |

On the tail end of a tough haul through BT over the last few weeks, we've finally managed it: Illidan is down.
With 3.0 just around the corner, this was our last real chance to finish out the fight before it no longer mattered. We've had good shots at him over a long period of time now - but as with many guilds, we've run into successive roster issues, especially with the expansion coming so soon in the future. At no point was this fight a foregone conclusion for us: we've had to work for it.
To everyone who's logged the hours to get here or supported us on the way, whether you worked on the fight with us or not, thank you for your dedication. The simple fact is that with the conditions we've faced, most groups would have given up a long time ago. Here's to you for getting it done.
Kudos,

Council Cleared
Posted by Tazzomax on Friday, July 18 @ 01:03:39 EDT (262 reads) |

With only two shots to try it tonight, we managed to bring down the Illidari Council, in one of our best late-run performances through BT so far.
With the state of Gorefiend raiding being what it is right now, this hasn't been an easy feat for us - we've had to persevere through scrapped raids, core membership burnout, and flukey mid-BT performances. On the whole, however, we've managed to keep things together, and with tonight, finally strike down the last barrier between us and Illidan.
Thank you to everyone who's helped to keep us going, both new member and old - well done.

DMT Fest '08
Posted by Tazzomax on Wednesday, July 02 @ 10:58:12 EDT (184 reads) |

For the third year in a row, we've lead a successful gathering of our DMT crew and friends - this time in Tampa, FL - over the past weekend. With the final tally standing at 34 people attending, it was also our largest DMT Fest to date.
All in all, we had a fantastic time staying up late, drinking too much, and taking time to meet folks who hadn't had a chance to attend our last two events. Thank you to everyone who attended, housed rowdy DMT'ers, manned the grill, and ferried folks around - and most of all to Cheri and Teya for successfully leading and organizing this event for the third year running.
Best of luck to everyone heading out - it was excellent getting to meet so many of you again.

Djon & Co. - ZA Bear

This past weekend, we managed to clear through all four ZA timers for the first time. While not a critical achievement for our larger progression, it did take a good level of focus and commitment in order to finish the place out.
Congrats to Malfizen on the mount, and special thanks to Djon for driving the group through to success.
